Really love watching this tilt shift video composed of footage taken from all over the U.S. The filmmaker traveled across the U.S. for three months to do research for the upcoming documentary, The American Backroom. The documentary will be "a portrait of a nation illustrated by a variety of fragments from everyday life, granting us an intimate look into the American backroom, into fringe areas, small towns, backyards and industrial districts."
I always wanted to travel and see different parts of the U.S., so this video and documentary is right up my alley.

WE THEY, WE THEY We went to San Francisco earlier this month and one of the things I wanted to do was to check out Clare Rojas' exhibit at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art.

The entire MOCFA gallery is filled with colorful, floor-to-ceiling wall installation, prints and paintings of characters and quilt-like patterns that are unique to the Beautiful Losers artist. It was a Tuesday afternoon when we arrived and the gallery was empty. Besides us, there was a young girl and her mom giggling at the video projected on the wall.

Dave and I really enjoyed all of her work, but I must say this tiny painting of a farm house is my favorite.

Although she's known internationally and has been in many group exhibits, "We They, We They" is her first solo show in San Francisco, where she lives and works. The show runs until September 12 and I really recommend checking it out if you're in San Francisco.

FRUIT CAKE

Just ran across this cool (and delicious) looking cake for the iPhone game Fruit Ninja (developer Halfbrick). I'm not sure if it's the fruit that's making my mouth water or if it's the cake.

I guess it's both. Be sure to check out the trailer too!

LION IN A COMA

Two things that made me happy today: 1) I just won a gocco print by Olive Dear through a giveaway I entered at ShareSomeCandy.com some time ago and (while on ShareSomeCandy.com I also saw) 2) this Animal Collective "Lion in a Coma" music video made by Ori Toor as his final project at the Shenkar School of Engineering and Design. Happy Tuesday!
