Milk & Eggs - Blog We have a blog? We have a blog! http://milkandeggsco.com/index.php?_a=blog en Milk & Eggs Co. Copyright 2009. All Rights Reserved. POP, SHOP 'N DROP IT Alright, so here's my super late post on our time at Noise Pop 'n Shop. Featuring 50 designers and artists, the event took place at the historic Verdi Club, a popular hall in the Mission District of San Francisco. I was worried that it was going to rain but the weekend turned out to be breezy and sunny.

Say hello to our neighbors, Hello Sailor!

Why Girls Go Astray

and Ms. Jamie Lau who is just as sweet as her tote bags!

Whether it's looking for a parking spot or unpacking our stuff and setting up our booth, the day of an event always starts out nerve wrecking. This time was no different, especially since we had to do a little on-the-spot modification to our usual set up. All was well once our table was ready and Soma FM blasted a ton of our favorite songs, which put us at ease.

Two of my top favorite artists from that day are: Double Parlour

They make wonderful sculptures one can't see from this awful photo. You have to check out their online shop to believe me.

and Craig Baxter. Here is Mr. Baxter showing his impressive collection of magnets made of vintage matchbox labels.

The event was packed the entire time. We had some great conversations with folks who came by our spot. The awesome and ever-supportive Mr. and Mrs. Monserrat showed up and hooked us up with tickets to the Legion of Honor!

We went there before we left on Sunday. Highly recommended, if you ever find yourself in San Francisco.

Meeting friends (old and new), getting immediate feedback on our stuff and checking out other vendors are what I look forward to the most at events like Noise Pop 'n Shop. OK, yes, selling shirts and making some cash, too.

PS: We hired a blue man to sit at our booth.

BAXTER'S 'BOOKS

We've posted about matchbook graphics in the past, coincidentally (or not!), we stumbled upon a fellow vendor at Noise Pop 'n Shop, Craig Baxter , who also happens to have his own collection of matchbooks.

OLYMPIC PICTOGRAMS

Designer Steven Heller and The New York Times take a light hearted look at Olympic Pictograms. I'm reticent to admit that I've never really given the Pictograms much attention until I ran across the work of Otl Aicher.

ARKITIP NO. 0045 Look what came in the mail today:

and I found these inside
A signed 9x12", silk screen print by Evan Hecox, who is one of my favorite artists ever.

and an Arkitip issue No. 0045 featuring more work by Evan Hecox, Cody Hudson and Todd St. John.

Because I'm poor, I literally waited years for this issue (originally published in 2008) to go on sale. Then magically last week, it went on sale for $10! I didn't wait another second to buy it. If you can afford it, tho, I highly recommend that you get the $95 subscription for 4 issues a year. You will be supporting the artists featured in each issue and these folks at Arkitip, Inc.
