Renegade Craft Fair Los Angeles

T-Shirt, Design, Card, Poster, Illustration

We had fun yesterday at the Renegade Craft Fair Los Angeles. First, we scored free street parking and saved $10. Then, we spent it all on over priced fajita tacos and taquitos at Tacomole. After lunch, off we climbed (not really, we took the elevator) to the 13th floor of the California Market Center, where over 100 craft booths were set up and the view of L.A.'s skyline is quite nice.

Just a few steps into the fair, we ran into an old friend who was selling her paper goods. I was too busy catching up and admiring her design that I forgot to take a photo of her and her cards. Check out, Invita Paper Studio to see (and buy) her stuff.

True to their slogan, "purveyors of HAPPY", Rock Scissor Paper had a really happy-inducing set up. Organized, open and with tons of cheerful colored products. It was hard not to want to get everything they have.

Both Dave and I agreed that Fugu Fugu Press's stuff is one of our top favorites. Everything from their design to the booth's little adornment is thoughtful, clean and simple.

It was almost impossible to look through Poketo's wallets, books, and tees as there were always too many people surrounding every corner of their booth.

Both our brothers didn't go with us but I have a feeling they would've been into MNKR stylish tee collection. Their set up was mostly black and white. It stood out among the sea of colors at the fair.

We followed the sign and arrived at I Heart Guts colorful booth, complete with its little play corner for the little ones.

My personal favorite is Tugboat Printshop. I've always been a frequent visitor of their site just to admire all of their woodcut prints but seeing a lot of them in person, they're even more impressive. The above photo is the "Toad on a Toadstool" from their Woodland Creature series that I purchased a while back and is now sitting atop my bookshelf. If you plan on purchasing a print or two from them, be sure to have them frame it too. They do a great job at framing and at almost half the price of what the big box, framing stores would charge you.

I regret not taking photos of everything but it's nearly impossible to do so while trying to look through the work, taking business cards, and signing up on mailing list at the same time. So I thought we'll compile a list of our favorite stores from Renegade Craft Fair Los Angeles 2009 and post it tomorrow. Be sure to check back!
