Fruit Cake

Food, Game

Just ran across this cool (and delicious) looking cake for the iPhone game Fruit Ninja (developer Halfbrick). I'm not sure if it's the fruit that's making my mouth water or if it's the cake.

I guess it's both. Be sure to check out the trailer too!

PALATE

Food, Art, Event

Last week I took my car to the shop for a regular service. While waiting for my car, I walked over to the Scion Art Space to check out Palate, an art exhibit that brings food into the art gallery. From vintage candies, Los Angeles based burgers to pink wedding cakes (with fangs!), it's the only art exhibition to make my mouth water.

My favorite from the show was Martha Rich's wall of dessert mini paintings. They're so colorful, cheerful and irreverent!

Hmm Clare Crespo's salad is so fresh, it "knits" no dressing.

I wonder what it'd look like if I do some stitching on it?"

I recognized some of the boxes were featured in a past issue of Giant Robot but there are a lot more to drool over. Here's a couple of cute bento boxes from the book:
